Crossbreed SuperTuck

After 25 hours of research and 7 days of wearing nine leading inside the waistband holsters we found that the Crossbreed Supertuck is the best IWB holster to carry a firearm securely and comfortably. It matches or beats similarily priced competitors in comfort and options.

It was only a matter of time before somebody decided to combine the benefits of Kydex and leather for the ultimate holster. Crossbreed was not the first to make hybrid holsters but they were the first company to popularize them. The hybrid is basically a synthetic holster mounted onto a leather pad so that the wearer gains all the benefits of Kydex and leather. In this review we will look at the CrossBreeds SuperTuck holster model.

First of all lets get a quick overview of the materials used in this holster;

  • Kydex is relatively inexpensive, repels sweat, is tough and maintains its shape. On the downside Kydex will not conform to the shape of the wearers body which can result in discomfort when worn inside the waistband.
  • Leather on the other hand is usually more expensive, can be damaged by moisture and collapse while trying to reholster a gun. But you cannot ignore the fact that leather is certainly more comfortable, looks good and will conform to a person’s body shape.

Options for SuperTuck Model

The holsters come in either a standard or combat cut. The combat cut allows for a quicker draw by cutting some of the leather away from around the guns grip area. You sacrifice a bit of comfort by removing the leather but it does make the task of getting a grip on the gun easier.

You are even give a choice of what type of leather you want the holster constructed from, Premium cowhide, Black cowhide, or natural horsehide. The leather backer is then attached to a textured kydex holster with stainless steel fittings.

Belt Clips

There are two belt clips with a chip and corrosion proof coating that secure the holster to a belt. The clips are spaced widely apart which allows for better distribution of the guns weight and stabilizes the holster when a firearm is withdrawn. The clips can also be adjusted for ride and cant depth.

The standard belt clip is spring steel but there is also a selection of other belt clip options such as V-hooks, J-hooks and belt loops.

After wearing the holster for 30 days it became one of my favorites, once the leather had worn in and molded to my body shape it was very comfortable and did an excellent job of concealing my gun.

I would recommend getting the combat cut version in horse hide as it is just so much easier to make a quick draw and the horse hide leather seems to be quicker to wear into your body shape. This is probably because it is thinner than cow hide leather. The combat cut does mean you do give up a bit of comfort with some of the leather being cut away but its not too big of an issue.

It certainly delivers on its promise and is one of the most comfortable holsters I have worn. It comes very close to the perfect holster for IWB carry. You can't go wrong with this holster, it just does what it is supposed to do and very well at that.

I have been using the cross breed for 2 years. I have 4. 2 for my Glock 19 and 2 for my Glock 43. I have one each of the combo cut and one each of the standard cut. I like the standard while Im driving or spending hours in the car. The leather helps with the grip pushing into my side. If Im going to only drive a bit I prefer the combat cut for the ease of draw. You can’t go wrong with either. I love them all. I have tried all of the other brands and now… Read more »

I have been using the horsehide for a year now with a Glock19. Excellent.
